During the PADI Instructor Development programme, you'll learn the PADI System of diver education, standards, and procedures, effective academic teaching presentations, teaching in confined water, conduction open water training dives, the business of diving and additional related topics.

When you complete the IDC, you will have been trained and prepared to successfully attend the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). This is the final step toward your Open Water Scuba Instructor certification.

PADI IE - Instructor Examination (2 1/2 days)

An evaluative programme where you repeat what you have been doing during the IDC. After completion of the IDC or OWSI, you must successfully complete the PADI Instructor Examination (IE) to become an Open Water Scuba Instructor. You will be evaluated on; dive theory, knowledge development presentations, confined-water (pool) teaching, open-water teaching, and general diving skills and professionalism. Nothing new. Generally, candidates find the IE easier than the IDC!

Why should I dive with Auckland Scuba?

  • We want you to enjoy your diving experience so you’ll come to love diving as we do.
  • Our instructors are passionate about diving and will ensure that your first underwater experience will be a fun and safe experience.
  • We have regular dive trips throughout the year from our own boat (not charters). We believe that once you've learnt to dive, you'll want to carry on so why not learn with a centre that actually gets out diving?!
  • We have the best price guarantee. If you find a better price for the same equipment, we'll match it.
  • We offer our students extra sessions if required so that you are comfortable before going out into the ocean (additional fees may apply).
  • We have a high standard of well-maintained equipment in our school including computers.
